Bukak Puasa @ KLCC

Friday, August 28, 2009

Yesterday, about lunch time, Khalis called me "Jom pegi buffet Imperial Chakri Palace"..So I thot - Good! My first ever Thai buffet..
OK, last year, I suggested lah we go to Chakri Palace utk bukak puasa, but it took him half a second to say No.
So when he ajak me yesterday, I was quite surprised lah - he's not a big fan of buffet nyer tempat..
He booked for 7pm.
But I had to go to Mont Kiara first - yesterday was our full year results annoucement and our dept mmg kene pegi.
My boss was the MC, but I missed his part coz we only arrived when the CFO was almost done. I'm not gonna talk about the the Group's results or what happened there etc coz its hardly about me, or Khalis
I was quiet cuak coz on the way there we saw that the traffic heading to KL mmg jam yg x nmpak ekor nyer..
Then I tumpang Allen coz he's also going to KLCC..Another cuakness coz his lampu minyak was already red when we got into the car.
Allen managed to get me to KLCC on time, but he had to go slightly further to fill up his tank

Moving on to Chakri,
For ala carte, I think its quiet good.
But for bukak puasa buffet, forget it..OK, they said that they have more than 50 dishes - but really, when 30 of them are kuih and stuff like keropok, popia etc, 50 is really sikit
They had one main dish each for udang, ayam, daging, ikan, sotong, crab and sayur..ok, 2 ayam..and of course la tomyam..
I think rasa-wise, everything was ok2 only..and they really lacked variety. And RM80/person was really not worth it.The only good thing about the dinner was that the money didnt come from my pocket =DD (Thank you Khalis!) I've been to better, but cheaper or similar buffet places and this one was so..dissapointing..Am positive that I wont be seen here ever again (at least for buffet)
So my conclusion? When it comes to buffet, always choose Japanese.

House Update No 3

We went shopping sakan on Sunday last week. We went to few places and in the end bought everything in Subang.

We bought:

A 40-inch flat screen – But we’re gonna exchange this for his dad's. I myself don’t need a tv but Khalis really can’t live without one – for sports!

A Washing machine – Bought a relatively small one. IMO, 7kg is enough for us. Khalis suggested something bigger, but he let me win..=DDD

A convection microwave – I wanted a microwave, just any microwave would do.. But Khalis loved the idea of baking together2 (that I kinda planted in his head), so he chose this one

A refrigerator – We bought one with 330 ltr capacity. A small one is enough for us now but a peti ais usually lasts for a very long time, like 10 years. Being forward looking couple, we bought a big one.

A stand fan – I don’t really need one, so this is just for Khalis

An L-shaped sofa – But it has the seating capacity mcm normal 3+2+1 sofa. In fact, it’s made of 4 parts. We loved the display unit, so we chose the exact type of fabric – dark grey flower print + red kusyen

Coffee table and tv cabinet – we bought a dark brown-coloured set

A reclining chair – for Khalis, I prefer baring2 kat sofa

Dining set furniture – 6+1. Also in dark brown

Barang letrik will arrive this week and furniture plak the following week.
This weekend kuar shopping lagi..yes lah!

The purpose of this entry is just so that there wont be 3 entries in a row talking bout our house..

My second field trip. Unlike the first one, this one was by-invitation only (kononnye la kan..kalo ajak pon takde org nk pegi kot..hahha) and I was chosen coz its relevant to what I'm doing
Actually the investor requested for this and there were 8 of us + 2 representatives from the investor. Boss let Nizam drove his free Santa Fe and Nurlin brought her Civic. Nurlin lovesss Egg Sandwich so I made that for everyone..
Nurlin's a good driver - 160km/h all the way (Nizam said he's having a hard time catching up with us) and was quite happy to drive back to KL the very next day after 1 whole day roun2 site.
The hotel we're staying in was quite good and being a lowly exec, I shared the room with Sarah. Boss and Nizam of coz la got single rooms..
We went to this awesome seafood place for dinner and makan like crazy..first we had otak2, pastuh followed by sume jenis seafood and this siput which I had to ask my colleagues (Liyana etc..) to korek for me..
The bill came out really cheap - sumthing between RM350-400..Special thanks to Yew Yew, he helped crushing my ketam and the isi+juice landed on his and Nurlin's shirts.
Later that night, we gathered at Yew Yew+Shrek's room - during the day they were braggin' bout their room being super huge bla bla..coz Shrek checked in first, and that time their room was not ready yet so the hotel upgraded their room and they got one on the Club Floor
But it turned out that their room was exactly like ours. Its just that they were on different floors!
Sarah brought her Cranium set, so we played 1 round of cranium. My team won but I hardly contributed anything pon
The next day baru pegi site. Here's the pic. See, I dont have to be a real engineer to look like one!

No 2.
These 2 are my cutest+youngest cousins. They are siblings, Farah and Aira..and they are the only budok kecik I can spend hourss with..
Everyone loves them..Coz no 1 - they are super cute and no 2 - they are really well-behaved. They hardly cry, not even when they're sick..

My 4-year old laptop dah stat buat hal and made me swear all the time..So last week, Khalis gave me his laptop..
May my dear laptop rest in peace..You're the reason I didnt go to classes and I thank you for all the drama+muvi+anime you had downloaded for me..

House Update No 2

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

The keys changed hands on Saturday..We're still waiting for the tenancy agreement, the owner has no problem with it, its just that the agent thought that its better to add a new clause with regards to the parking lot
We met the agent+owner at 11am. They were punctual, bless them.

They cleaned the house already, but we decided to do it again..I (note the singular) sapu and mop the whole house coz Khalis wasnt feeling well..he actually bought two mops so that we could do it together..we also pasang langsir..but had to stop half way and sped to Tropicana City to buy more hooks.
Alang2 kat Topicana City, we bought lah small2 items like tong sampah etc..

So this is the living room..

The kitchen..the colour of the tiles is so urghhhhhhh

Dream House: Found

Monday, August 17, 2009

We have found a house to rent..
Khalis paid for the booking deposit last week and we can move in next week.
Prior to moving in, the owner+agent dah painted the unit (twice!!!) and will do whatever touch up yg perlu..and they will clean (mop, sapu, sental) the house a day before..Now we're just waiting for the agent to draw up the tenancy agreement..We love the agent..they have agreed to absorb the legal fees associated with it (which can come up to RM200) coz they have in-house lawyers and they let us move in a week before the effective tenancy period

The house is just 2-mint away from my current place.
The rent is the maximum we can tolerate. It was actually RM200 higher on the advert, but we managed to nego when we went to view the unit. Rent is inclusive of covered parking and maintenance fee. The unit is unfurnished but thats exactly what we wanted.
The rent I must say is expensive and doesnt justify the unit..we can definitely get something wayyyyyy better just 1km away..kalau area bukit jalil, bleh dapat 2-storey linked house corner lot lagi..but the premium is for having an LRT station just 1-mint away. Our unit is facing the station. Its a high floor unit so its not gonna be so noisy..*pray hard*

The location is great..just 20-mints away from Shah Alam and 15-mints away from Hartamas and 7 minit nak pegi my opis..how awesome is that?? and Khalis said we can do our weekly grocery shopping at Tropicana City.
This is the floor plan for Type C, with 1,061 sqft, our unit is the biggest and every unit in our block is a corner unit.
Ini plak yg overall nyer..type C tuh blok B&D

Its bigger than the place I'm renting now, but once inside, you feel that its way smaller..

I am so happy..now everyweek pon we pegi shopping brg2 rumah..
We have bought a bed - from Macy, that time ade promotion - buy a mattress and get a bedframe for just RM1.
And yesterday we bought curtain..We went to Sogo, Metrojaya, Jusco, Akemi, Living Quarters, Aussino and Harvey Norman (HN macam takde curtain, tp masuk lama gak..tgk brg2 lain..eheh)
Dalam byk2 yg kitorg tgk..we only liked this ONE corak+kaler..and they have stopped the production..tapi seb baik last2 jumpa jgak..I actually suggested beli je kain and upah org jahit..lagi byk pilihan corak+kain..but that Khalis fella mmg sume pon nk cepatttttttttt aje..
It was wayyyyyyy above my budget..But Khalis said "Think about it..its for our home..you're gonna see it everytime you wake up and come back from a stressful day at work"
When he said "our home" I really couldnt say anything dah.
We have basically agreed on which sofa and peti ais to buy..but still need to discuss further on other things..

I think the trickiest part would be the kitchen..I really dont want to spend a lot on it coz we're not gonna take majority of the stuff with us bile nk move out...so the challenge is nak furnish the dapur without nampak serabut with minimum cost possible
I am so happy and loving sume shopping yg we're gonna do (or dah buat) for the house..
